3 Strokes Golf Cup 2026: A New Era of Competitive Golf

Janine Buenaventura

Last April 29, the fairways of Tagaytay Midlands played host to something refreshingly different in Philippine golf — the inaugural 3 Strokes Golf Cup. More than just a tournament, it introduced a bold and innovative format that brought amateurs and professionals together in a way the local golf scene had never seen before.

A Format That Changed the Game

At the heart of the tournament was its unique 3 vs 1 concept — three amateurs competing against one professional per flight. This setup created a balance between competition and collaboration, pushing amateurs to elevate their game while challenging pros to adapt to dynamic match conditions.

Each class featured its own format, ensuring variety and strategy across the board:

  • Class A – Individual Net Stroke Play (amateurs vs pro)
  • Class B – Best Ball (3 amateurs vs the pro)
  • Class C – Scramble (3 amateurs vs the pro)

With each flight requiring a different approach, players had to think beyond their usual game — making every round both exciting and unpredictable.

Championship Highlights

The tournament recognized both individual excellence and team performance:

  • Individual Champions were crowned in Class A, Class B, and the Professional divisions
  • Team Champion was awarded in Class C under the scramble format

The result? Competitive matches across all classes and a strong sense of camaraderie among participants.

A Resounding Success

From tee-off to awarding ceremonies, the 3 Strokes Golf Cup delivered an unforgettable experience. Players praised the format for its freshness, competitiveness, and ability to bridge the gap between amateurs and professionals. It proved that golf can evolve while still honoring the spirit of the game.

Beyond the scores, the event succeeded in bringing people together — showcasing a new way to grow and energize the local golf community.
